Mists are almost the guilty pleasure of the skincare world. A toner or serum is always going to be more effective, but there’s nothing like a mist during the day to make me feel revitalised. They’re also great for when you’re feeling ill but want to maintain some semblance of a skincare routine. I also use a mist at the end of my make up routine to help set everything in place. So there’s plenty of reasons to have a mist in a routine! But I always feel guilty when buying a new one.
So when Whamisa sent me their Damask Rose Petal Mist I felt that the Asian Beauty Gods were smiling down on me. I love the Whamisa hydrogels, and earlier this year when Whamisa gave a talk, read here, I lusted over all their products. Now that I’ve used 1/3 of the mist (sparingly saved), I feel it’s time for a review!

Before I talk about some of my favourite ingredients within this I have to point out how amazing this list is. It’s seriously the who’s who of the natural world. It was hard for me to pick out a few highlights to talk about!
Also it’s impressive that within this there’s no water at all. Usually this is one of the first ingredients within mists to bulk it out, but not with this one!
Aloe – Moisturising and soothing aloe is a great ingredient for all skin types.
Rose – Brightening, this is the star ingredient in it’s namesake mist.
Licorice – This is another great brightening ingredient
Mist bottle with a clear appearance so you can appreciate the prettiness inside! I like to swish this lightly so that I can see the petals suspended in the mist solution before using. It’s a powerful mist, without being a blast.
Product & Scent
Diving scent of roses. It’s floral without being overpoweringly so. The product is a mist, a water like consistency.
Directions of Use
Spritz! It gives me an even light coverage from an arms length. I prefer using it at half arm’s length for a more powerful mist, but need to spritz twice to cover my whole face from this length.
I like to use this after my actives or during my routine when my skin feels slightly dry. During the day to refresh myself. And when I’m feeling lethargic or ill I keep this on my bedside for random spritzes during the day.
I also use it after I’ve applied my make up to set it.
I am so pleased that I got this mist and love using it. It does tingle a little bit, in a positive way, when I use it so feels like it’s actually doing something for my skin! I did for the sake of this review use it everyday for 2 weeks, and noticed a slight brightness in complexion. Though can’t for certain say it was the mist itself, or just my general happiness. Because I do like using the mist, it gives me a small positive boost during my work day when I’m stressed. It was also a boon during Summer in the heat, I can’t emphasis enough how much better it feels when you have a mist to cool yourself down.
This mist is also lightweight and I found absorbed super quickly into my skin, while still making me feel refreshed.
Would I purchase this for myself? This is a tough question because I have a strict beauty budget, and currently this mist is out of my price range.
Would I like to receive this as a gift? Yes, I think it makes a great gift. So if any of my friends/family are reading this, Christmas 2017 is just one short year away 😉
